Farmer in court for defiling four-year-old girl

Techiman (B/A) April 13, GNA – A circuit court at Techiman in the Brong Ahafo Region has remanded Samuel Arthur, a 21 year-old farmer into police custody for allegedly defiling a four year-old kindergarten pupil.

Arthur who pleaded not guilty will re-appear before the court presided over by Justice Michael Cudjoe Ntumy on April 27. He is facing charges of doing acts contrary to Section 101 of Criminal Offence Act 29/60.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector John Amponsah said on April 2, the accused invited the victim into his room at Droboso in Wenchi Municipality when she was playing with her colleagues under a mango tree and forcibly had sex with her.

Chief Inspector Amponsah said after the act he warned the victim not to disclose it to anybody else she would die. The cry of the victim, who was feeling pains, attracted a head dresser who traced the accused to his hideout and caused personnel of the Domestic Violence Victim Support Unit (DOVSSU) of the Ghana Police Service at Wenchi to cause his arrest.

A police medical report from Wenchi Methodist hospital revealed that the victim had been carnally known. 13 April 11
