Farmer in court for defiling 7-year-old

Asamankese, Aug 16, GNA – A 35-year-old farmer, Emmanuel Azumah, has been put before the Asamankese Circuit court charged with defiling a seven-year-old class two pupil.

Azumah, who pleaded guilty with explanation, later changed his mind and said he did not defile the girl and the court remanded him till August 25.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Osei Owusu said Azumah and the parents of his alleged victim lived in the same house at Akyem Asafo. On August 1, Azumah invited the girl into his room and defiled her.

When Azumah denied having had sexual intercourse with the girl, the judged asked him if he could read and write and when he replied in the affirmative, he was given a medical report to read but he struggled to do so.
