Farmer granted 10 million cedis bail

Mankranso (Ash), July 6, GNA – The Mankranso magistrate court in the Ahafo Ano South district has granted a 10 million cedis bail to a 45-year-old farmer for allegedly threatening to kill one Oppong Kyekyeku also a farmer at Mankranso.

Sulemana Okyere pleaded not guilty to the charge and will re-appear before the court presided over by Mr Frank Owusu-Afriyie on July 11, this year.

Police Inspector Abraham Agyei Mensah, prosecuting, told the court that, both the accused and complainant were farmers at Mankranso. He said early this year, the accused went and warned the complainant, who was in his plantain and citrus farm not to step in the farm anymore else he would show him.

According to the prosecutor, the accused claimed that, the piece of land on which the complainant was farming belonged to his mother. Inspector Mensah said on June 20 this year, the accused again went to the farm with two sharpened cutlasses and threatened to kill the complainant together with a labourer who was a witness in the case. He said the complainant and the witness, fearing their lives, took to their heels and rushed to report the case to the Mankranso police who arrested the accused and after investigations charged him with the offence.
