Farmer arrested for allegedly killing wife

Kwasi Yammo, a 40-year-old farmer of Abeyensuano has been arrested by the Nsawam Police in connection with the death of his wife, Mary Bediako.

The deceased, also kmown as Akosua Baby, was a 44 year old farmer at Kwaboatah, near Coaltar.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency, Police Superintendent Akwasi Kankam – Boadu, the Nsawam Municipal Police Commander, said the body of Mary was found in a bush about 500 yards from Abeyensuano at Atiemokrom on Friday, at about 0800 hours by the Asafo group of Abeyensuano.

Supt. Kankam-Boadu said the people called Yammo that his wife had been found dead in the bush but Yammo who was intoxicated, did not attend to their call.

Consequently, they reported him to the police.

He said Yammo was arrested and upon interrogation, he was accused of being responsible for the death of the wife.

Superintendent Kankam-Boadu said the deceased had a mark on the forehead and several marks on the body.

The body has been sent to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for autopsy.

The woman left behind two children whose ages range between five and seven.
