Begoro, March 07, GNA – A parade of school children, workers and voluntary organisations was held at Begoro to mark the 49th Independence anniversary celebration.
In an address the Fanteakwa District Chief Executive, Mr Ebenezer Ofoe Ceasar, called on traditional authorities to assist other stakeholders in education to adopt measures to stop children from roaming about in the evening at the expense of their studies. He said by so doing, the growing rate of low education performance and indiscipline could be controlled.
Mr Caesar described parents who still refused to send their children to school despite the introduction of the Capitation Grant as “wicked” and should be dealt with by law.
He said the assembly would continue to provide education infrastructure to enhance quality teaching and learning. The District Director of Education of Fanteakwa, Miss Mary Animwaah, said the independence of Ghana was “incomplete if children are not given the proper training to become good and responsible future leaders.”
Miss Animwaah appealed to stakeholders in education to appreciate the education restructuring embarked upon by the government and help to improve upon it.
She commended the Fanteakwa District Assembly on its teacher trainee sponsorship as well as the provision of 25 television sets to some schools to promote the President’s Special Initiative on Distance Education in the district.
