Fanteakwa fails to endorse DCE

Mr Abass Fuseini Sbaabe, the President’s nominee for the Fanteakwa District Assembly failed to obtain the two thirds majority of votes cast by the Assembly Members present needed to retain his post as District Chief Executive (DCE).

He polled 33 votes out of a total of 61 votes cast.

Ms Mavis Ama Frimpong, Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, expressed disappointment at the assembly members for refusing to endorse the president’s nominee.

“I am surprised at the outcome of the election and bear in mind that rejecting the nominee does not only mean rejecting the personality but also rejecting unity in development,” she said.

She, however, entreated them to review their decision and do well to confirm Mr Sbaabe in the next election.
