Family planning is free for women in Talensi Nabdam

Family Planning Services in the Talensi Nabdam District have been made free for the people of the district.

Ms Rosemond Azure, District Director of Health in charge of Talensi Nabdam, said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Awaridone over the weekend.

She said this was made possible following a national survey on patronage of family planning services which placed the district as one of the worst performing districts with 24 per cent coverage in terms of patronage and use of modern methods of Family Planning.

To curb this, she said a series of health talks had been made and more of such were planned to create the awareness, adding that the cost of the services was made free as part of strategies to increase the patronage and encouraged couples in the district to discuss family planning issues with their wives.

She said that would increase awareness and boost the confidence of the women and make them bold enough to patronize the services at the health facilities. “Women are always hiding when they are going for family planning services”.

Speaking earlier to women at a graduation durbar, the District Director advised them to plan their families because it would not only let their children look healthy but would enable them educate their children well.**
