Tema, Oct. 08, GNA – The Tema Circuit court “A” has remanded a trader and an electrician for distributing Raid insecticides, believed to be fake, at the Ashaiman market.
Kofi Osei the trader and Letsu Edo the electrician, pleaded not guilty to charges of possessing fake insecticides, and offering them for sale.
They will re-appear on Thursday, October 14.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Sarah Aggrey Acquah told the court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu, that on September 21 this year, police had a tip-off that some people were selling raid insecticides at the Ashaiman market to unsuspecting members of the public.
Inspector Acquah said, police rushed to the market, mounted surveillance on the accused persons, and in the process, saw them offering for sale some of the fake products.
The prosecution said Osei was arrested when a customer paid for one, and Letsu was found in the company of Osei.
The prosecution said the police are trying to track down their source of supply, while the insecticides will be forwarded to the Police Forensic Laboratory for examination.
