DURHAM, USA — Kofi Amoateng, N.C. Central University professor of finance and economics, has been elected chairman of the NCCU Faculty Senate for the 2003-04 school year.
Amoateng said he wants to increase faculty morale, advocate for improved salaries and work on reducing pay inequities among instructors and professors. He also would like to see more interaction among people of different cultures and religions on campus.
Amoateng earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Ghana in Africa and his master’s degree from Eastern Illinois University. He received his doctorate degree in economics and finance from the University of Texas at Austin.
Other newly elected Faculty Senate members are: vice chairman, George Wilson, criminal justice professor; secretary, Sabrina L. Thomas, human sciences assistant professor; and parliamentarian, Timothy J. Seigler, assistant professor of education. The new officers will take office July 1.
