Executive Council of W/R NAGRAT puts concerns to government

Takoradi, Feb. 26, GNA- The Executive Council of the Western Regional National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) on Tuesday, called on the government to take prompt action to address certain concerns of the Association.

A press release issued and signed by Mr Robin Andrew Faidoo, Regional Chairman of NAGRAT, said the distortion in the salaries of many teachers following the implementation of the new scheme of service for teachers in September 2006 have still not been corrected and that the NAGRAT would accordingly advise itself on the issue as soon as possible. It said the government has failed to honour its promise of implementing a single-spine salary structure for civil and public servants by January 2007 as announced during a press conference attended by four Ministers at the height of NAGRAT industrial action in October 2006.

The Council said teachers have been denied their annual increment since September 2006.
