The Deputy Director General of the Ghana Education Service, Mr. Alex Tetteh Enyo has stated that disciplinary action is to be taken against teachers implicated in cases of exam malpractices since 1995. Mr. Tetteh Enyo said this in a discussion with the final International Final Award Committee of the West African Examinations Council. The IFAC, reviews reports of Chief Examiners for various subjects. They observed that the bulk of malpractices in Nigeria were as a result of poor invigilation and supervision. The Committee is made up of senior officials of the Ministries of Education in member countries as well as those of various educational institutions. The International Final Award Committee of the WAEC also noted the generally poor levels of performance in the council’s examinations and urged member-governments to make concerted efforts to motivate teachers, equip laboratories and provide libraries in schools as a way of improving the teaching-learning process in schools.
