Ex football star charged for reckless driving

Cape Coast, March 12, GNA – Ben James Otoo, a 57-year-old former football star was on Wednesday granted bail in the sum of GH¢2,000 with a surety by a circuit court in Cape Coast for allegedly driving recklessly and injuring another driver in the process. Otoo, who pleaded not guilty, is to re-appear on April 2, 2008. Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Oheneba Amoako-Boateng, told the court presided over by Mr Richard Asiedu-Badu, that on July 18, 2007, the accused was driving an Opel Astra taxi with registration number CR 30 U from Cape Coast to Elmina with passengers on board. He said after the passengers had alighted at a spot, Otoo made a u-turn on the highway without taking the necessary precaution and in the process rammed his vehicle into another car, whose driver sustained injury and was treated at the hospital.
