Evangelist remanded for allegedly raping a nurse

Bibiani (W/R), May 26, GNA – The Bibiani circuit court has remanded a 49-year-old evangelist for raping 26-year-old nurse at Sefwi Nsawora in the Western Region.

Joseph Dadzie pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on May 29. Deputy Superintendent of Police Joseph Anneh told the court that the accused had been going round organising church crusades in towns in the Sefwi area.

On March 18, the accused organised a four-day prayer and healing session with Sefwi Nsawora branch of the Methodist Church during which he called the nurse and told her publicly that he had had some revelations about her.

Prosecution said the accused after the crusade collected GH¢13 from the nurse to buy anointing oil that he would use to pray for her to ward off the imminent mishap.

Mr Anneh said on March 23, the nurse went to the accused person’s house and collected the oil and he followed her to her house. While in the room the accused grabbed her and after a fierce struggle had sexual intercourse with her. Mr Anneh said the following morning the accused called the nurse on phone and apologised but she made a report to the police and the accused was arrested.
