Effiduase (Ash), May 23, GNA- Evangelist Benford Kwaku Asiamah, Evangelist in-charge of the Abaasua Prayer Camp, near Atwea, of the Effiduase Methodist Diocese, has expressed worry about the activities of some evangelists and pastors who claimed to be political prophets. He observed that such pastors claimed that they have been commanded by God to make prophecies about politicians to be elected in the 2008 elections and described such action as not the best. Evangelist Asiamah expressed the sentiments when the National Executives of the Christ’s Little Band, a group in the Methodist Church, presented 50 bags of cement worth GH¢ 500 to the Church at Effiduase on Wednesday to support the on-going developmental projects at the Prayer Camp. He said, such prophecies could undermine the image of Christianity if they did not happen and that would give room for non-Christians to speak
against Christians. Evangelist Asiamah advised that they should rather pray over whatever God had told them to ensure the success of the elections. He stressed the need for Christians to pray also unceasingly as the country was preparing for 2008 elections to ensure peace and stability in the country. Evangelist Asiamah thanked the group for the support and appealed to other groups in the Church and elsewhere to emulate them. Opanin John Quaicoo, National President of the group, who presented the cement, said, the group was committed to the spiritual growth of the
members of the Church. He urged politicians not to give vain promises to the people but rather tell them what they could offer them when voted into power.
