ET Mensah joins Council of State race

Former Ningo-Prmapram MP E.T. Mensah has joined the race to become the representative of the Greater Accra Region on the Council of State.

The election is scheduled for Thursday, February 16.

Mr Mensah, a veteran legislator and former Sports Minister was beaten by young protégé and later arch-rival Sam George in the National Democratic Congress’ primaries. Mr George subsequently won the seat.

The Council of State consists of one representative from each region of Ghana, elected in accordance with regulations made by the EC under article 51 of Ghana’s constitution, by an electoral college comprising two representatives from each of the districts in the region, nominated by the District Assemblies in the region, and eleven other members appointed by the President.

Class91.3FM’s Sports journalist Desmond Decker is one of those vying for position in the Greater Accra Region.
