Ernest Danso, President of the Ghana Baseball and Softball Federation and Third Vice President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), has been named Chef de Mission for Team Ghana ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
The announcement underscores Danso’s rising prominence in Ghanaian sports administration, building on his success as Chef de Mission for the 2023 African Games, where Ghana achieved its best-ever performance at a multi-sport event. His leadership was marked by meticulous planning, athlete support, and seamless coordination.
Elected GOC Third Vice President in April 2025 during a pivotal Elective Congress, Danso works under GOC President Richard Kofi Akpokavie, who succeeded Ben Nunoo Mensah. His dual role highlights his commitment to advancing Ghanaian sports on the international stage.
As Chef de Mission for Glasgow 2026, Danso will oversee Team Ghana’s preparations, manage logistics, and ensure team coordination as the nation strives to surpass its previous medal tally.
Reacting to the appointment, the Ghana Baseball and Softball Federation celebrated the news on social media, stating, “We’re proud to see one of our own leading Team Ghana on the global stage.”
With Glasgow 2026 on the horizon, all eyes are on Danso to steer Team Ghana to another record-breaking performance.
