EPUC to introduce new programmes

Ho, Nov. 23, GNA – The Evangelical Presbyterian University (EPUC) in Ho will from

next year offer new degree programmes in Credit Management and Finance, Integrated

Development Studies, Human Resource and Organizational Development and Corporate

Secretaryship. These would be in addition to programmes leading to Bachelor of Science Degree in

Administration (Accounting and Finance, Marketing and Agri-business) and Bachelor of Arts

in Pastoral Ministry and Church Management. “Our University is growing. Not only in numbers, but in academic offerings and facilities

as well,” Mr. Walter Blege, President of the University said at the Matriculation of 126

undergraduates at the weekend. He told the matriculates that they were not going to be trained “to chew and pour in order

to pass examinations to earn a degree. “On the contrary you would be molded to reflect the philosophical thought of Einstein –

the Philosopher Mathematician that Education is what is left behind after we have forgotten

the facts we learnt at school”. Mr. Blege said the “EPUC is committed to the idea of ensuring that our students do not

merely go through the walls of this university”, but in the words of Very Reverend Dr.

Livingstone Buamah, former Moderator of the E.P. Church that “the walls must go through

the students”. The University which runs evening, weekend and morning sessions have a total student of

288, 161 of whom have opted for weekend sessions, 94 for the morning session and 33 for

the evening session. “The heavy patronage of the weekend session gives credence to our claim that we are a

true worker-friendly and community-based institution,” Mr. Blege observed. Out of the 288 students, 93 are women a ratio of nearly 1:2 against the men, he noted. In a message, Right Rev. Francis Amenu, Moderator of the General Assembly of the E.P.

Church said the church is determined to use the EPUC as “the light of Christ, through

advance teaching, research and service to bring newness of life, knowledge and skills to

humankind”.
