Mr. Kweku Ampratwum Sarpong, Chairman of the UK and Ireland branch of the New Patriotic Party, (NPP) has said that the outcome of the recent Presidential and Parliamentary elections was a reflection of the confidence of people of Ghana in the pragmatic policies so far pursued under the leadership of H.E. the President.
He said these policies carried out within the framework of Positive Change Chapter One had rekindled the hope of Ghanaians ?who are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel?.
Speaking at a victory dance held in London, Mr. Ampratwum, who is a housing practitioner by profession, said Positive Change Chapter One vividly nurtured by the government during its first term in office had laid the foundation for the revival of all sectors of the economy.
Members of the Council of Elders present at the dance were Messrs Opoku-Fofie, Samuel Tawiah, Owusu Ansah-Boafo, Owusu Mensah, Adomeko Mensah, Rev. Mark Adu-Gyamfi, Nana Adu Frimpong and Mrs. C. Tawiah.
The executive members, who attended the event, were Mr. Adamu Daramani Sakande ? First Vice Chairman, Mr. Noble Adjei-Boakye, 2nd Vice Chairman; Mr. Kwadzo Adjei-Bawuah, Secretary, Nii Asare Addy, Assistant Secretary, Mr. Robert Paapa Cudjoe, Treasurer; Mr. Eric Agyeman, Financial Secretary and Ms. Elizabeth Boakye, Women?s Organiser.
Others were Messrs. Patrick Kwadu, Youth Organiser, Nana Agyeman Gyebi, Publicity Officer, Gyebi-Ababio, Organiser Other executive members were Darko Mensah, Jennifer Boadu-Amponim, Alex Owusu Boakye, Sam Antwi and Kofi Boadu Oppong.
The victory dance attracted a cross section of the public from all walks of life, including representatives of Ghanaian community associations and groups.
Mr. Ampratwum told the gathering that the government would not rest on its oars and would pursue policies under the Positive Change Chapter Two to consolidate and build upon the success achieved within the last few years.
He stressed that with the support of all well-meaning Ghanaians, Ghana would succeed as a nation.
He declared: ?We are already on the move. We will get there to the Promised Land, a land of hope and prosperity for all Ghanaians?.
?Through the fruits of Positive Change Chapters 1 & 11?, he said, ?the seeds will blossom to usher in the Positive Change Chapter Three?.
He congratulated the NDC for putting up a good fight but urged them to play a responsible role as a ?true opposition party? to enhance the growth of democracy in the country?.
Rev. Mark Adu-Gyamfi, a member of the Council of Elders of the party in the UK and Ireland prayed for the prosperity of the nation and thanked God for the peaceful manner Ghanaians conducted themselves during the elections.
