Eight year-old Peace Ambassador takes message to north

Angela Mensah, eight year-old Elections 2012 Peace Ambassador, has appealed to stakeholders in Friday’s polls to play their roles effectively to ensure peaceful elections.

She has also appealed to all children to appeal to their parents and relatives to do their best to help ensure violence-free elections.

The eight year-old Elections 2012 Peace Ambassador made the appeal in Tamale on Wednesday when she delivered a peace message to Muslim faithful at the Tamale Central Mosque to drum home her peace campaign for elections 2012.

The exercise formed part of activities of Angela Mensah’s peace tour to the Northern Region which started on Tuesday.

Her earlier activities in the region included a visit to the Gukpe-Naa (Chief) of Tamale, and a visit to Dakpema of Tamale, a visit to both Abudu and Andani Gates at Yendi, and addressing of students and a group of people at the Jubilee Park in Tamale.

Angela said, “I strongly believe that all Ghanaian children desire to live in a peaceful and stable country to achieve their dreams; and never would we wish to become refugees in other country.”

She added that “We also need our parents alive to support us to achieve all our dreams and we will never wish to become orphans in our own country.”

She, therefore, appealed to the Electoral Commission to provide a leveled playing field for all the political parties to ensure successful polls.

She also called on all political parties to conduct their campaigns devoid of insults, tribalism, and religious sentiments.

Angela appealed to the Chief Imam and other Muslim leaders to use their positions to advise their followers to avoid acts that could lead to electoral violence.
