Edumadze urges Abodom chiefs to settle chieftaincy dispute out of court

Agona Abodom C/R, Aug 6, GNA – Mr Isaac Edumadze, Central Regional Minister has called on kingmakers of Agona Abodom to withdraw a 12-year-old chieftaincy dispute and settle it out of court to promote peace and development.

He said he was prepared to assist the chiefs and the people to ensure amicable settlement of the dispute.

Mr Edumadze made the call when addressing the chiefs and people of Agona Abodom to climax their Annual Akwambo festival at Abodom. He said the chieftaincy dispute and land litigations were impeding on the socio-economic advancement of the Central Region and urged the chiefs and the people to help reverse the situation.

The Regional Minister said he would team up with the District Chief Executive for Agona, Mr John Agyabeng, to ensure that development projects are sent there to improve their standards of living. Mr Edumadze asked the people in the area to forget about “cheap political propaganda” by the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and rally behind NPP government in order to fulfil its campaign promises it made to Ghanaians.

He said the NDC ruled the nation for almost two decades but could not solve the economic woes of the country, “rather, they are now preaching that the NPP government has not done anything.” Mr John Kwesi Agyabeng, DCE for Agona, urged the chiefs and the youth to unite for development of the town.

The DCE asked landowners in the area to release more lands to the youth who are interested in farming to go into cultivation, especially cocoa and other cash crops.
