Education Directorate orders the closure of school

Fumso (Ash.), May 09, GNA – The Adansi South District Directorate of Education has ordered the immediate closure of the Bright Way International School at Fumso, citing unhealthy environment. It directed the proprietor to find a new site for the school within two weeks and register with the Ghana Education Service (GES. The directorate would absorb the school into the public system if the directive were not carried within the specified period. The order followed an inspection of the school by a team of Officials from the education office last week.

Nana Appiah Danquah, an Assistant Director of Education, told the Ghana News Agency that apart from the fact that the school is sited too close to the Fum River, a situation where any flooding could prove disastrous, it also lacks several facilities. These include textbooks, attendance register, tables and chairs as well as toilets.

Besides, the proprietor’s wife has converted part of the school building into a chop bar. 09 May 05
