Education director canes teacher in class

The Regional Director of Education, Ms. Enyonam Afi Amafuga in the Western Region has lashed a class-two female teacher for whipping some of her pupils in class.

The teacher caned the pupils for coming to class late to write examination on Wednesday, April 5, 2017.

Ms. Amafuga who was not happy went to the school demanding that the female teacher [name withheld] to explain why she lashed the class two pupils at Well-Rose Methodist primary school at Sekondi.

According to reports, the Regional Director of Education, whose office is close was driving by the school to her office and spotted the teacher caning the pupils.

She stopped driving and went to question the teacher to justify her actions, after which she was said to have taken the cane and lashed the primary two teacher.

However, the action by Ms. Amafuga got some teachers angry and the Ghana National Association of Teachers in the region to investigate the matter.

The teachers have called on Ms. Amafuga to render an unqualified apology for humiliating their colleague.
