Education action plan designed for Asutifi District

Kenyasi (B/A), June 5, GNA- The Asutifi District Directorate of Education has come out with a 10-year action plan designed to address problems inhibiting academic work in the district.

The document, which is before the District Assembly for perusal captures essential areas as the provision of pre-schools for all basic schools, workshops for Junior Secondary Schools (JSS), and gender issues.

Mr. Yaw Manu-Yeboah, district director of education told the Ghana News Agency in Kenyasi that, “the document seeks to lift education in the district out of its current doldrums”. On the teacher situation in the district, the director explained that local authority schools remained the worst hit because they were mostly located in the remote areas where trained teachers were reluctant to serve.

Mr. Manu-Yeboah said the teacher problem was acute as basic schools in the district needed more than 70 teachers to meet their full complement.
