ECG arrests security man for illegal sale of metres

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has arrested David Fameyie, an employee of a private security firm in Takoradi for illegal sale of ECG metres to unsuspecting clients in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.

Mr Paa Kwesi Pobee, a Technical Officer of the ECG, told journalists in Takoradi that the modus operandi of the suspect is that he removes ECG metres at a particular location and sell them to his clients at different locations thereby making it difficult for ECG to trace them.

He said one Emmanuel who is a field officer at the ECG managed to uncover the mischievous activities of the suspect on Tuesday June 16, and alerted the officials, leading to his arrest.

Mr Pobee said the suspect also undertook illegal connection of electricity to some ECG clients.

He entreated persons who need ECG metres to contact the offices of the company instead of relying on middlemen.
