Eastern Regional Minister threatens to sanction public servants

Koforidua, Nov. 11, GNA – The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, has threatened to sanction public servants who absent themselves from seminars organized to give them insight into their job. He was speaking at the opening of an orientation seminar for leadership of Municipal and District assemblies and members of the Audit Report Implementation committees of the assemblies in the region at Koforidua on Tuesday.

Mr Ofosu-Ampofo said this when he found that out of the expected 120 participants, less than 50 were present. He called on all Municipal and District assemblies and decentralized departments to establish Audit Report Implementation Committees as required by law.

Mr Ofosu-Ampofo urged the Municipal and District Chief executives to take advice given them by their co-ordinating directors to enable their areas to benefit from over GHC 300,000 from the District Assemblies Common Fund.

Mr Richard Ntim of the Institute of Internal Auditors said the role of auditors were not to find faults but to help implementing agents to achieve their set targets. Mr Thomas Abaidoo of Internal Audit Agency said the seminar would be organized in all the 10 regions of the country.
