Eastern Regional CPP form IMC to steer affairs

Koforidua, June 24, GNA – Convention Peoples Party (CPP) executive members from 14 constituencies in the Eastern Region, calling themselves the “Positive Action Group” (PAG) of the CPP, have passed a vote of “no confidence” in the incumbent Regional Executive and replaced it with a five-member Interim Management Committee (IMC).

The IMC had the former Regional Vice Chairman, Mr Fred Osei, as chairman, Mr Kwabena Awuku Lokko and Mr Kwabena Ofori as first and second vice chairmen respectively, Mr A.K. Aikins as secretary and Mr Augustine Ackumey, treasurer.

The resolution signed by 24 executive members and passed at a meeting at Koforidua on Thursday, said they were desirous of “positive action due to the complete ineffectual and incompetent leadership of the Regional Steering Committee and the almost total collapse of our great and indomitable Nkrumaist party in the region.” It asked the IMC to convene a regional conference by September for the election of a new regional executive.
