Eastern Region records 31.8mm rainfall

The Eastern Regional Director of the Ghana Meteorological Agency, Mr Kwame Anokye Aidoo said, the region recorded 31.8 millimeters (mm) of rainfall over the last three days.

This, he, said is the highest rainfall recorded in the region this year.

Speaking to Ghana News Agency in Koforidua, he said 0.6mm rainfall was recorded on Friday, 10.5mm rainfall on Saturday and 20.7mm on Sunday.

He said the region would experience cloudy conditions and slight intermittent rains in the afternoons and thunderstorms with rains in the late afternoons and in the evenings throughout the week.

Mr Aidoo said the region would experience moderate rainfall during the wet season and there would be 10 to 30 per cent reduction of rainfall this year as compared to the previous year.

He therefore entreated cassava and maize farmers to continue farming and advised watermelon and onion farmers to avoid planting in river valleys since those areas could get flooded.
