East Akyem endorses MCE

The East Akyem Municipal Assembly on Friday endorsed Mr Simon Peter Asirifi, the incumbent Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), for another four year term.

Mr Asirifi polled 53 votes, representing 97 per cent, out of a total of 55 assembly members, to get the nod in an election supervised by Mr Paul Boateng, the Eastern Regional Electoral officer.

In his acceptance speech, the MCE expressed his gratitude to the assembly members for the confidence they have in him to oversee the affairs of the municipality for another term.

“I am a mortal who is fallible, I am therefore thankful to you all for overlooking all offences and confirming me,” he said.

Mr Asirifi pledged to continue working harder towards bringing more development to the municipality and entreated the assembly members to rally behind him to make East Akyem a better place for its people.

Ms Helen Adjoa Ntoso, the Eastern Regional Minister, thanked the members for confirming the president’s nominee and urged them to work with him in unity.
