East Akim District HIS to be launched in July

Kyebi (E/R), May 19, GNA – The East Akim District Health Insurance Scheme is to be formally launched in July 8, 2004 at Kyebi. The date was decided at a meeting of the District Health Insurance Implementing Committee at Kyebi on Tuesday.

The meeting was to plan an intensive sensitisation of the communities in the district on the proposed scheme and also to plan for the way forward in the implementation of the scheme in the district. Speaking to newsmen at the meeting, Mr Elias Kwaku Mensah, District Focal Person, said the proposed scheme would cover admissions and emergencies at the Out Patience Department (OPD).

He said the emergency cases that would be covered include snakebites, dog bites, motor accidents, farm injuries and domestic injuries.

Mr Mensah said the scheme would also cover 50 percent cost of all referrals from the service providers of the scheme to other hospitals for treatment.

He said the District Assembly had opened tenders for the award of contract for the construction of a permanent office building for the scheme at Kyebi.

He appealed to the citizens of the district to contribute towards the success of the scheme in the district.
