E/R: Chaos at Okorase as residents fight Police over fetish priest

There is sporadic shooting at Okorase near Koforidua in the Eastern region following a standoff between residents and Police over the decision by the security agency to grant bail to a fetish priest suspected to have murdered a man in the area.

Two Policemen have reportedly been injured in the melee after they were pelted with stones by the angry residents.

A unit committee member in the area has also been arrested while a vehicle belonging to the fetish priest has been set ablaze.

According to sources, the missing person, Kwadwo Yeboah,38, was last week requested by the fetish priest, Nana Jackson, to accompany him to Gomoa Magazine in the Central region for some rituals and has since not returned even though the priest has returned.

The matter was reported to the Police after the priest failed to give tangible reasons for his failure to come along with Yeboah. He was subsequently arrested but has been granted bail to the chagrin of the residents.

Starr News’ Kojo Ansah reports that the priest has again been whisked to the regional Police headquarters while a Police reinforcement team has taken over affairs in the town.
