The Driver and Vehicle Licencing Authority, DVLA, will soon stop issuing driving licences to people without any formal education.
The policy will be rolled out in 2008.
Licences will only be issued to applicants with at least a basic education qualification.
The Chief Executive of the DVLA, Joe Osei-Wusu, says the policy will help reduce accidents in the country.
?A large chunk of drivers hardly read and understand road signs. Any driver who cannot read and understand cannot be expected to be a good driver. Accidents will be tremendously reduced with this policy?, he said.
