“Drug” MP seeks diplomatic immunity?

The Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) has confirmed the arrest of the NPP Member of Parliament for Nkoranza North in the United States of America for drug trafficking.

Mr Eric Amoanteng and his accomplice, Nii Okai Adjei were arrested on Saturday November 12 when they took delivery of 7 crates of pottery in which they had concealed heroin at the JFK International airport in New York.

Deputy Interior Minister and Chairman of the Narcotics Control Board, Captain Nkrabea Effah-Dartey who is also chairman of the NACOB told Joy News about their findings.

?This morning when officers of the Narcotics control board came to brief me as chairman, they told me authoritatively that Eric Amoateng is a Member of Parliament for Nkoranza North. And interestingly enough, he attempted to seek diplomatic immunity for his involvement in the matter.

I am going to pass this message on to my boss, the minister and he will decide on what to do with it?.

The absence of the MP from Parliament in the past week led to suspicions that he was one of the two suspected arrested by the US Customs officials who bears a similar name.

His colleague MPs has been expressing their shock and disgust over the affair.
