Driver’s mate in jail for defiling a five year old child

The Akim Swedru Circuit Court in the Birim South District has sentenced Francis Kofi Amoabeng, a driver’s mate to 15 years imprisonment for defiling a 5-year-old kindergarten girl.

Amoabeng, 18, pleaded guilty to the charge of defiling a child.

Police Inspector Kwaku Appiah told the court presided over by Mr Yaw Atta Sampong that the victim lives with her mother at Akim Kusi while Amoabeng lives with his parents in the same town.

He said on August 28, 2011 at about 1000 hours the victim and her younger brother went to visit their father in the same town and on their return home Amoabeng lured the 5-year-old girl to come for some toffee.

The accused then asked the younger brother to wait outside but sent the victim into his room and forcibly had sex with her and warned the victim not to tell anyone else she would die, the prosecutor stated.

Inspector Appiah said the younger brother of the victim informed their mother about the ordeal and when the victim was examined blood stains were found in her panties.

Earlier in 2011 when Amoabeng was arraigned before court he pleaded not guilty and was remanded in prison custody until this year.
