Driver remanded for stealing from his car owner

Kumasi, Oct.30, GNA – A Kumasi circuit court has remanded a driver for allegedly stealing over GH=A26,300 (=A263 million) from his employer. Iddrisu Issah pleaded not guilty to the charge and will reappear on November 9.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Comfort Baffour-Kyei told the court presided over by Mr.R.M. Kogyapwah that Mr. Kofi Wusu, a welder owns, an articulator truck that plies between Ghana and Burkina Faso and is driven by the accused person. She said about three months ago, the Mr Wusu sent the accused to Burkina Faso with goods but he failed to render accounts. He also sent 1,000 bags of cement to Tema to Koforidua twice. He loaded from Tema to Agona Swedru then to Accra and also from Accra back to Tema, this time too no accounts were rendered to the complainant.

She told the court that Issah loaded 637 bags of sheanuts weighing 50 tons at the cost of 1 million CFA and that all the cargo he delivered accumulated to 63 million cedis (GH=A26,300). Issah denied some of the charges and claimed robbers attacked him and took away the waybills, hence his inability to render accounts.
