Driver in court for defilement

Asamankese, Nov. 1, GNA – Asamankese Circuit Court had remanded a 20-year-old driver, Kofi Agyei in prison custody for defiling a 14-year-old JSS pupil.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge and is to reappear in court on November 11, this year.

Giving the facts of the case, Sergeant Margaret Kontoh said the girl lived with her parents at Gyamase near Akyem Tumfa, while Agyei lived at Akyem Tumfa.

She said residents of Gyamase had engaged the driver to convey their children to and from school at Akyem Tumfa.

On April 30 this year, Agyei arranged to meet the girl that night and accordingly arrived at Gyamase with a friend on a hired taxicab at about 2030 hours.

On arrival when Agyei spotted the girl, he called her and when she came he dragged her to a nearby house where all the occupants were asleep and forcibly had sex with her on a bench.

Prior to the act, Agyei had warned the girl not to shout else she would be harmed.

For fear of her life, the girl complied with the order, however, she later reported her ordeal to her uncle, who lodged a complaint with the police and Agyei was arrested.

The Police issued the girl with a hospital form to attend hospital, where she was treated and discharged.
