Driver granted bail for careless driving

Charles Kwaw, a driver, has been granted bail of GH? 5, 000.00 with two sureties, for negligently causing harm and careless driving by a Half-Assini Magistrate’s court.

He pleaded guilty and would re-appear before the court on June 2.

Prosecuting, Police Sergeant Isaac Ebo Otoo, told the court, presided over by Mr Abdul Majid Illiasu that the complainant, Francis Nyamador, a fisherman, resides at Half-Assini while the accused, a driver and resident of New Edobo.

He said on Sunday, May 1, the accused was driving an Opel Zafari with registration number GW 3223 – Y from Half-Assini heading towards Samenye.

According to the prosecutor, on reaching New Kabenlah-Suazo, the vehicle knocked down Clement Dagbi, a pig farmer, who was walking along the shoulders of the road.

He said the victim sustained injuries and was rushed to the Half-Assini Government Hospital for medical attention but died while on admission.

The Police arrested the driver while the vehicle was impounded.
