Driver granted 10 million cedis bail for careless driving

Cape Coast, Nov. 4, GNA – A Cape Coast circuit court, presided over by Mr Mustapha Logoh, on Tuesday granted a Tema-based driver 10 million cedis bail with a surety for careless driving and negligently causing harm.

Forty-five year-old Amidu Walah pleaded guilty with explanation to harming one Clement Sackey. However, the Court entered a plea of not guilty for him.

The accused, who had run into Sackey’s stationery vehicle, explained that his attention had been on an on-coming vehicle at the time.

He is to reappear on Friday November 7.

Prosecuting, Inspector Ohene Boateng told the court that on October 23 this year at about 1500 hours, Walah, who was driving a petrol tanker from Twifo Praso, towards Cape Coast, rammed the back of a pick-up being driven by Mr Sackey near the Abura market in Cape Coast. According to him, Mr Sackey sustained injuries, while the vehicle was also damaged.
