Driver gets 12 months for reckless

Nsawam (E/V), Dec. 12, GNA – The Nsawam Magistrate Court Grade One, on Friday, sentenced a commercial driver, Mr James Allotey to 12 months imprisonment in hard labour for no parking and resisting arrest.

He pleaded guilty to both counts and was convicted accordingly.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector James Karbo Domah, told the court that Allotey was driving towards Suhum when he parked on the Densu Bridge for passengers to alight.

He said the accused was arrested by the Ghana Private Road Transport Union guards on duty on the bridge but when he was asked to drive to their office he drove them to Adoadjiri and forced them to alight from the vehicle.

Chief Inspector Domah said the guards walked back to Nsawam Police Station and reported the matter for him to be arrested.
