Driver charge for careless driving

Tema, June 28, GNA – A driver has been granted 100 million cedis bail by the Tema Circuit court “A” for knocking down a man who was crossing the road and injuring him.

Stephen Angmor Tetteh pleaded not guilty to the charges of careless driving and negligently causing harm. He will re-appear on July 12. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Adolphus Otchere told the court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that on May 15, 2003, at about 1800 hours, Tetteh was in charge of Opel Vectra with registration number GR4599 U, driving from Tema to Accra through the motorway.

On reaching a spot close to the Tema underpass, the accused knocked down Bengamin Kwame Nartey who attempted to cross the road from the Tema General Hospital (TGH) end.

Inspector Otchere said the victim sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the TGH and was admitted for some weeks.
