Dr Letsa is Ho-Central NPP Candidate

Ho, April 30, GNA – Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, was on Saturday elected as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2012 parliamentary candidate for the Ho-Central constituency.

The 53-year-old medical director of the Miracle Life Clinic in Ho, polled 372 votes to beat Mr Ronald Fiakpui, 38, a Marine Administrator, who had 62 votes.

A total of 185 voters out of the 620 delegates, failed to vote. There were some quite tense moments at the generally orderly elections, when the losing candidate, Mr Fiakpui, protested the ineligibility of a delegate, resulting in verbal exchanges between him and a constituency executive.

Another heady moment was a confrontation between some supporters of the two candidates, outside the Ho-Depot Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, venue for the primaries, over allegations that some Constituency Executives were seen openly campaigning for Dr Letsa.
