The Dormaa Ahenkro Presbyterian Hospital recently organized a cooking competition between the hospital staff and community members as part of its upcoming 70th Anniversary celebrations, scheduled for the following month.
Speaking in an interview with GIFTs News, Rev. Dr. Isaac Appiah, the General Manager of the Hospital, expressed that the event was designed to showcase and promote the rich variety of local and traditional foods, with the intention of encouraging healthy eating habits.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the event also provided an opportunity to foster and strengthen the relationship between the Hospital and the community stressed that by bringing together diverse groups of people to participate in and witness the event, the hospital aimed to create an atmosphere of unity and further enhancing the bonds within the community.
During the cooking competition, the Jagri Bekala Mining Company, located in Dormaa Ahenkro, generously contributed Gh¢68,500 to the hospital for the acquisition of a phototherapy device to treat neonatal jaundice.
The General Manager took the opportunity to express gratitude to all community members who supported the cooking competition, as well as to the CEO of Jagri Bekala Mining Company for their assistance in procuring the device for neonatal jaundice treatment. He emphasized the hospital’s continued need for additional phototherapy devices and appealed to philanthropists and other relevant stakeholders to assist in acquiring these devices.
Rev. Dr. Isaac Appiah further noted the ongoing renovation of the children’s ward, highlighting the necessity of obtaining new hospital beds. He called upon well-meaning Ghanaians to support the hospital by providing beds for the children’s ward, thereby enhancing the quality of healthcare delivery.
