Dormaa Central Municipal Assembly inaugurates sanitation taskforce to ensure a hygienic environment in the Municipality

The Dormaa Central Municipal Assembly, under the leadership of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Dominic Adoma Ameyaw, has officially launched a Municipal sanitation taskforce.

This initiative aims to ensure that residents comply with sanitation regulations to maintain a hygienic and clean environment within the Dormaa Central Municipality.

At the inauguration ceremony held at the forecourt of the Dormaa Central Municipal Assembly block, the MCE, Hon. Dominic Adoma Ameyaw expressed his gratitude to the 30-member taskforce for accepting the challenge of improving sanitation in Dormaa. This initiative builds upon efforts initiated by Dormaahene six years ago, with support from President Mahama, to create a healthier environment.

He acknowledged that the task undertaken by the taskforce is demanding and requires courageous individuals, hemce members of the taskforce must demonstrate resilience and focus, avoiding favoritism and enforcing the laws as necessary.

He said the assembly will provide them with devices to capture individuals who resist compliance, ensuring that these cases are brought to the attention of assembly leadership for appropriate action, thereby promoting cleanliness in Dormaa Ahenkro.

Hon. Dominic Adoma Ameyaw emphasized that the establishment of the taskforce is not intended to intimidate the residents of Dormaa Ahenkro and its neighboring communities. Instead, it aims to eliminate waste and prevent Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu II, from personally engaging in waste collection activities and also to discontinue the monthly cleanup exercises, thereby allocating funds for other developmental initiatives.

He urged all taskforce members to remain committed to ensuring that offenders are held accountable in accordance with the law.

Nana Ansu Gyeabour, the Dormaa Ahenenanaa Adontenhene and Operations Commander for the Osagyefo Clean-up Exercise, reiterated the challenges faced in the clean-up initiative, emphasizing that success fundamentally relies on the faithfulness and courage to enforce the laws impartially to enhance sanitation in Dormaa Ahenkro.

He mentioned that a 30-member task force will be presented to Dormaahene Osagyefo Oseadeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu II to ensure they receive the necessary support to fulfill their responsibilities. He stressed the importance of the taskforce being bold enough to enforce the laws without bias, even when it involves friends and family members, to ensure their efforts are beneficial to the assembly and Dormaa Central as a whole.

Some members of the taskforce expressed their gratitude to the Dormaa Central Municipal Assembly for the recognition and pledged their commitment to work diligently and impartially to achieve cleanliness environment in Dormaa.
