Don’t politicize our demands – Trainee nurses

The President of the Trainee Nurses and Midwives Association Godwin Akazee has warned against the politicization of their demands.

The caution comes after the NDC General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia took a swipe at the leadership of the agitating trainees.

Hundreds of trainee Nurses and Midwives Thursday demonstrated in protest of government’s failure to pay their allowances, reduce their school fees among other concerns.

Their protest is to also mount pressure on the government to provide employment for qualified nurses and midwives.
Speaking to Starr News Akazee said their demands have nothing to do politics.

“Our problems are facing us in the face and everyone knows it. That is why we have said that we don’t need political noses. Are they saying that all the students in the various training institutions are not children of some politicians or they just want to leave the serious issues we raising and be attacking personalities?

“We are raising genuine issues and we think that we should look at ways to resolve such issues rather than reading politics into everything,” he said.
