Don’t politicise fight against corruption – Palmer-Buckle

Government must not politicise the fight against corruption and must do everything within its powers to curb the rising menace, Most Rev. Charles Palmer-Buckle has advised.

The Metropolitan Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra described corruption as “an errant human behaviour” and the fight against the canker must be tackled from all fronts.

“Corruption must be killed before it kills human beings,” the religious leader said at an event organised by Occupy Ghana – a pressure group spearheading the campaign against corruption in Ghana.

Most Rev. Palmer-Buckle noted that “since corruption is part of humans” all hands must be on deck to nip it in the bud irrespective of political background, instead of making political capital out of it.

He called on members of Occupy Ghana to “go ahead to fight the fight” against corruption without fear since it is a just cause to protect the poor.

The Catholic priest called on the State to “protect the poor” by making sure their taxes and resources are safe instead of going on a looting spree.
