Don’t deny pregnant BECE candidates from writing examination – Director

Nkawie (Ash), April 20, GNA – Mrs. Dinah Appiah, the Atwima-Nwabiagya District Director of Education, has cautioned heads of basic schools against any acts that would undermine the success of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) scheduled for Monday, April 23.

She has also advised the school heads and examination authorities against the tendency of depriving genuine BECE candidates without prescribed school uniforms from writing the examination. In an interview with the Ghana News Agency on the district’s preparations towards the BECE at Nkawie, Mrs Appiah asked basic school heads and parents to encourage and support their children during the examinations.

She also cautioned them not to prevent pregnant candidates, who are capable of sitting for the examination, from doing so. Mrs Appiah warned teachers against the collection of unauthorized fees from candidates and said teachers and basic school heads should strictly comply with the guidelines of the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC).

She advised examination supervisors and invigilators to exercise the maximum professional competency and caution to avoid any examination malpractices. 20 April 07
