Don’t call Saturday’s polls – NPP warns Media

The main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has warned the media against calling the results of Saturday’s flagbearer elections.

The party says the authority to declare the winner of the internal polls has solely been vested in the Electoral Commission who will man the exercise.

“The EC will declare the winner of the elections, hopefully by 10 pm. We urge the Media and party members not to declare the winner until the EC does,” a member of the Election Committee of the party, OB Amoah told Citi FM, Monday.

According to him, all necessary logistics have been put in place to ensure a smooth election.

Two-time flagbearer of the party, Akufo-Addo and two others – Alan Kyerematen and Francis Addai Nimoh – are gearing up for the party’s mega conference on October 18, at which an Electoral College of 141,000 delegates will elect a flagbearer for the 2016 elections.
