Don’t abuse my contender – Nketia warns supporters

The General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress Johnson Asiedu Nketia has warned members of the party not to abuse Abdul Ishaq Farrakhan who has filed his nomination to contest him (Nketia) for the general secretary slot.

According to him, his contender must rather be encouraged for his bold decision instead of being castigated.

Farrakhan is so far the only member of the ruling party who has been bold enough to contest the popular general secretary who hitherto was expected to go unopposed.

Addressing the media during the balloting for positions on the ballot paper for the party’s upcoming national executive elections , Nketia said he has gladly taken his contender around the office where he will potentially occupy if he were to emerge as general secretary of the NDC.

“The one who is contesting me looks like a potential general secretary so I wish him well.

“I have taken him to my office and taken him around, in case he wins the seat, he will be occupying. But I am urging all the party members, I have indications that some people are insulting him for doing something that is bad to the party. He hasn’t done anything wrong. Let nobody speak ill of him.”

He warned that he will personally report to the Police, anybody found to have abused Farrakhan in anyway.

“Let nobody attack him for my sake, if you attempt to do that I will expose you to the security agencies and the law will take its cause,” he warned.
