Dompim-Pepesa (Western Region), 13 Oct., The Omanhene of Nsein traditional area, Awulae Agyefi Kwame the second, has appealed to all citizens of the Western Region to get involved in the development of the region. The Omanhene was speaking at a durbar to mark the annual ”Akpa” festival of the Chiefs and People of Dompim-Pepesa, near Tarkwa, at the weekend. Awulae Kwame who was chairman for the function, regretted that a meeting organised by the Western Region House of Chiefs last June ”to think about the development of the region” was not rpt not attended by MPs in the region. ”…If there are any differences at all, the doors of the Regional House of Chiefs are still open and Nananom are expecting the MP’s to come so that together we can plan for the development of the region.” Mr Solomon Amoah, Wassa West District Chief Executive, advised the Chiefs and People to invest their resources in viable ventures and in the education of their children instead of using them on litigation. ”Investment in education is an important tool for human resource development for the District in particular and the nation in general,” he said Mr Joseph Ghansah, MP for Tarkwa-Nsuaem, appealed to the government to monitor the effects of environmental degradation in Tarkwa area due to surface mining. He also called on the government to take a critical look at Agona-Junction-Tarkwa trunk road which, he said, is deteriorating. Nana Nyonwa Panyin the third, the Chief of Dompim-Pepesa, appealed to the Wassa-West District Assembly to consider putting up a technical institute in the area.
