Do not impose J. H. Mensah on us ? NPP supporters

A section of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) members in the US have called on the national executives of the party to refrain from imposing the sitting member of parliament for the Sunyani East Constituency, Hon. J.H. Mensah on the constituency in the forthcoming parliamentary election.

This was contained in a statement faxed to the Free Press at the weekend and signed by Dr Francis Berko Nketia of Virginia, USA on behalf of the concerned members. The statement said that the concerned members were dismayed by what can be perceived as subtle attempts to manipulate the primaries in the constituency to favour J.H. Mensah, who is also the Senior Minister and head of the government economic team.

The statement pointed out that even though five candidates filed their nominations to contest for the NPP parliamentary slot and all of them had been successfully vetted, the national executives have resorted to delay tactics to discourage the other candidates from contesting.

The statement noted that the national executives of the NPP have postponed the primaries three times already and just last week they announced that the primaries have been postponed indefinitely.
