Kasoa (C/R), July 25, GNA – The Managing Director of Praise Academy at Kasoa, Dr Lawson Kwasi Alorvor, at the weekend called for the equitable distribution of the educational fund to both public and private schools.
He described the current distribution of the fund as “discriminatory,” which did not augur well for the development of education in the country.
Dr Alorvor, who is also a Veterinary Surgeon, was speaking at the first open day of the Academy at Kasoa. He stated that, “since children in private schools are also Ghanaians, there should not be any discrimination at all when it comes sharing of funds to cater for education”.
“The parents of these children are farmers, fishermen, workers, transport operators, traders and artisans who pay tax towards national development and must enjoy the fruits of their parents labour and they must not be discriminated against” he said. Dr Alorvor urged parents and teachers to assist their children to unearth their hidden talents and to help them to develop them for their own good and that of the nation.
He stressed the need for teachers and parents to train children placed under their care to exercise self-control and confidence to face the future with hope.
Dr Alorvor said private schools were striving to attain better standard and charged stakeholders at the national, regional, district and community levels, to meet periodically to share ideas to promote education.
